The apprehension is that in the future this will put humans out of work and therefore humans will need to go on full time welfare: A world without work is coming – it could be utopia or it could be hell.

This dire prediction of the future is wrong. The reality is it will be completely the opposite. The entire purpose of the human existence is to create new information in the form of experiences, breakthrough innovation and incremental innovation. So situations will arise that will continue to push, pull and require humans to not only work but to do so with ever more intensity and drive.
